The most anticipated day: into the heart of the Annapurna Sanctuary.

The trail climbs steadily above the treeline through rocky glacial terrain, past Machhapuchhre Base Camp and into the alpine basin around Annapurna Base Camp.

Annapurna I, Annapurna South, Hiunchuli and Machhapuchhre form an amphitheatre of snow and ice. Early dinner; the evening is calm and cold.

Tip: Temperatures drop quickly after sunset — keep your warmest layers ready for the evening.
